There are many illiterate parents in India who have no choice but to send their children to makeshift schools with bare minimum facilities hoping that their children would learn more than what they did in their lifetime and have a better future with the 'education' they get. The other end of the spectrum are the creme-de-la-creme parents who spend a fortune to buy 'fine' education for their heirs. Current education system makes sure these two ends of the spectrum are at a light years distance. RTE is not the answer to the grass-root level problems of India's children, but just a dab of superficial gloss on the HRD cabinet's report.

In my humble opinion...
I don't think there was any need for the RTE Act! The government school education system in Kerala has been working well for ages now, without any RTE Act. The literacy record of Kerala is testimony to this.
I understand that many government schools in Kerala have two shifts daily, and have proportionately larger number of teachers, because the existing infrastructure cannot handle all students in a single shift. Educating their children is important for most parents in Kerala. And teaching has been and continues to be a respected profession in Kerala; a government school teacher’s post is still a coveted and respected one.
Further testimony - many people in my family (most of whom came from humble backgrounds with meager incomes) have for generations studied in government schools in Kerala, and have all done very well in life thereafter. And this happened without any RTE Act!
The private sector education system in Kerala was never a substitute for a non-functioning government education system, but has supplemented the government system with good facilities for people who could so afford.
The education system has been working successfully in Kerala without any RTE Act. Something is seriously wrong wherever else it has not been working. The RTE Act does not address the root causes, and will not help in any way but will only cause harm. I wonder what problems the RTE Act is intended to solve, but I am pretty sure it will not solve any of them, whatever they are.

ROFL!!!! Thank God you didn't take the iPill after Shaadi. I wouldn't miss these gems for all the world.

But frankly, even I have always thought that the baby was abandoned. And I have always thought that it was a wrong thing to do and yeah, well.... if I had known about the iPill, I would have recommended it :D

ok nice :) now since i haven't seen the movie, a small question, was anand her husband? M sure not! Even i was a meeta till being a girlfriend..waiting..looking after his parents...and so onn...once am a wife the ballgame is different all together...very cruelly, the meeta in me was...killed!! I wish life cud have left as simple as the movie sounds....
